Hovercards

STATE IT, PANE.

Clicking is so last decade — too permanent, too much risk. Hovering is the way forward. is Chrome extension cuts the annoying barrier (the click) between a link and what’s on the other side on a number of social media sites, including Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, Soundcloud, Imgur and Instagram. Rather than leaving the tab you’re in, simply just mouse-over the link and Hovercards displays a small window that gives you an idea of what you can expect on the other end. In practice, it’s a little bit like the preview pane on Facebook that turns a jumbled link into a picture with some preview text — useful to get a snapshot of an Instagram user, for example. Once you have an idea, you can then click on the preview pane (don’t worry, it doesn’t actually take you to another page or site) for a summary of the comments on the page, which is ideal if you want to see the conversation on Reddit without actually going there. With all that info in hand, you may now click if you wish... or hover o to something else. [
