Toshiba Portege Z20t-B

A CONVERTIBLE THAT’S BUILT TO LAST.

-

THIS PREMIUM CONVERTIBLE from Toshiba has an extremely sturdy screen locking mechanism. e screen/tablet is held in place via two large metal plugs, along with a couple of locking hooks, and it looks like it’ll last a lifetime. is is incredibly important in a convertible, as the hinge is o en the rst point of failure.

With the base detached, the sleek 12.5-inch screen weighs just 730 grams. Windows 10 automatically switches to tablet mode when it’s detached, and the touch-screen is wonderfully accurate. It might only be a 1080p display, yet it looks much crisper than expected, while the matte nish means it’s usable in harsh sunlight.

Even with the base attached, the entire unit still weighs just 1.51kg, and we love the response of both the mouse and keyboard. e speedy CPU within ramps up to almost 3GHz under load, and when combined with the SSD and 8GB of memory delivers razor sharp performance. Even its 3D performance isn’t too shabby, thanks to the Intel HD Graphics 5300 integrated into the CPU. But where this device really excelled was battery life, clocking an amazing 616 minutes in our demanding battery test. at’s a solid 50% longer than the next closest competitor.

It might cost a little more, but the snappy performance, sturdy build quality and extreme portability of this convertible make it exceptionally desirable. It might not be quite as sexy as Microso ’s Surface range, but in many ways it’s the superior device.
