Logitech MX Master 2S

A MULTITASKER’S RIGHT-HAND MAN.

- [ HARRY DOMANSKI ]

LOGITECH IS BACK with a fresh take on its multitasking mouse — the company’s flagship, MX Master 2S. Stylistically, very little has changed with this new ‘S’ model from its predecessor.

The uber ergonomic form factor is still a wonder to behold and a wonder to be held, although it’s really targeted at users preferring palm rather than claw grips, and only for right-handers. The graphite and light-grey finishes are noticeably nicer than the black and stone of the predecessor’s, and the return of the polygonal grip is a welcome aesthetic treat.

More significant changes include a bump from 1,600 to 4,000 maximum dpi, an increase in its rechargeable battery-life from an alleged 40 to 70 days and Logitech Flow. This is the key selling point and allows you to use the mouse for fluid multi-computer (and multi-OS) control on up to three devices. Once your devices are on the same network and have the free Logitech Options software installed (which doubles as your control centre for assigning its seven buttons and two scroll wheels), getting Flow running is fairly painless.

You’ll be able to drag your cursor to the edge of a screen and have it appear on your neighbouring device’s display, even allowing you to copy-paste files, text and images across Windows and Mac devices. This works exactly as it should and, for those that work across multiple machines, will pair nicely with one of Logitech’s multi-device keyboards.

That said, you can snap up the regular MX Master 2 for around $80, so the upgrade to the 2S will only be worth the extra $50 if you can make good use of this Flow tech.
