DOCUMENT EDITING PAR EXCELLENCE. $14.99 | pdfexpert.com

When it comes to editing PDF files, mobile apps have always been more limited than Mac or PC. Leave it to the folks at Readdle to deliver desktop-class features that go beyond basic annotation, form-filling and signatures.

PDF Expert 6 adds the ability to also edit text, add or replace images, and redact sensitive information inside documents. It’s a brilliant update that turns the app into a true productivity powerhouse for all but the most advanced PDF capabilities.

In addition to the trio of new editing features, you can also add web links to text or pictures. The tools at your disposal are exceptionally intuitive — for example, after selecting an existing image inside a document, you have the ability to rotate, replace, save, crop, copy or delete, as well as resize or reposition it with ease.

Editing features require an additional in-app purchase, which costs another $14.99, and replace the iPad version’s woefully inadequate Markup tool, a workaround that allowed rudimentary text editing for free. PDF Expert 6’s editing features are well worth the one-time upgrade, though.

The remaining new features are free for existing users, including an interface overhaul with enhanced search, outline editing and the ability to password-protect documents. Cloud support is also more robust — so edits are now saved directly to your favourite service. So... iOS’s best PDF editor gets better.
