$259 MILLION AMOUNT OF DOSH THAT AUSSIES DROPPED ON EXCESS-DATA CHARGES FOR THEIR MOBILE PLANS
That dreaded alert is familiar for most of us — “You’ve reached your data allowance for the month” — and according to the latest research from finder.com.au, we have reason to fear. The survey erred on the side of caution by only assuming that people went over their cap by 1GB and hence were paying just $10 in excess charges. Even based on that conservative estimate, however, Aussies have paid out over $259 million to telcos for extra data in the last 12 months — that’s more than doubled last year’s result of $113 million.
