Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote

PRESENTING THE ULTIMATE IN PRESENTATION.

- [ HARRY DOMANSKI ]

WITH THE SPOTLIGHT Remote, Logitech has delivered an incredibly specialised and powerful tool for presenters. The small remote is home to three adjacent buttons — Next, Back and Pointer — as well as a nook at its base that houses its USB Wi-Fi dongle when not in use (or you’re connected via Bluetooth).

That’s pretty much the extent of the physical features and this minimalism lends it an Apple-esque aesthetic, which is greatly enhanced by its aluminium finish and oddly-familiar colour selection.

Logitech’s intuitive Presentation software makes configuring the remote incredibly simple, even with deeper settings and tweaks, and it’s compatible with all the major presentation programs across both Windows and Mac platforms such as PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides. You can assign secondary functions (activated via long-press) to each of the three buttons, such as fast forward, volume control or scroll. The latter two use the same stable motion-tracking that allows you to use the device as a pointer and cursor when holding the top-most button. The software also includes a timer function, which will trigger vibrations in the remote at pre-configured milestones

While the battery life is impressive and the remote has clever powersaving features, the USB-C recharge speed is the real showcase here. A single minute of charging offers a full 3 hours of use for those lastminute emergencies, while a full charge will take around an hour to complete and allegedly keep the unit powered for up to 3 months.

At $199, the price may seem a little steep for a glorified button-stick, but the attention to detail and comprehensive feature-set make this a must-have for anyone that regularly finds themselves standing between a slideshow and a tough crowd.
