OPTUS TO REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS FOR SLOW NBN SPEEDS
8,700 CUSTOMERS TO BE REFUNDED FOR UNACHIEVABLE TOP SPEEDS.
Optus has acknowledged that it was likely to have misled 5,430 customers on a 100/40Mbps connection, 1,519 on its 50/20Mbps tier and 1,381 on the 25/5Mbps bundle by selling them theoretical speed packages that their customers’ particular connections were not able to achieve. Despite this concession, the ACCC still plans to take the telco to court for pressuring 20,000 NBN customers to swap to the new service before their disconnection date.
