NEW REPORT SUGGESTS APPLE SLOWS DOWN ITS OLD iPHONES AS THEIR BATTERY FAILS

iPHONE 6S AND iPHONE 7 MODELS AFFECTED.

A recent report from the benchmarking group behind Geekbench has found that, as the battery in an iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 ages, the processor speed is diminished in order to compensate. The analysis showed that, with both models of iPhone, the average scores would display clear peaks around four separate lower scores when running iOS 10.2.1 and above, suggesting a software-instigated stepping down of processor speeds at different battery ages.
