GENERIC ‘GORILLAPODS’ ARE a dime a dozen, but having witnessed more than few with broken parts — a testament to the cheap plastic components — we’d be wary about trusting our $1,000+ smartphones to the knock-off brands. The Stand Pro is Joby’s premium phone tripod, and it’s designed to be study enough to accommodate smartphones with larger displays. The adjustable stainless steel clamp holds your phone securely, and legs are reassuringly rigid, utilising stainless steel and durable, ABS plastic. The legs can be manoeuvered into almost any position. The clamp can be tilted up and down 150°, as well as positioned in portrait or landscape mode. For time lapses and long exposures, the Stand Pro works a treat for keeping your phone still for extended periods, while the bendy legs give you the flexibility to position or attach it to almost anything. We’d happily trust this tripod to handle our expensive smartphone’s weight while fastened to a tree branch, pole or other attachable surface. We only wish it came with a Bluetooth remote control for hands-free selfies.
