HP Envy Photo 7120

-

AN ALL IN ONE PRINTER.

AS THE NAME suggests, the HP Envy Photo 7120 is focused on bringing your holiday snaps to life. But it’s also a multifunction printer, so can handle your documents and make copies. The 7120 is quite an affordable option, too, and can be picked up for around $120. The printer connects via Wi-Fi or USB, and can also read directly from an SD card.

Control is via the 6.75cm touchscreen, which makes it easy to access and change the settings. Getting the HP printer connected is fast and easy, and the touchscreen interface is fairly responsive. HP also has an Android and iOS app that make it’s it easy to print directly from a phone or tablet.

For photo printing on quality paper, the Envy can handle up to a 4,800 x 1,200dpi resolution. Considering the price of the printer, the quality is excellent, and more than good enough for printing happy snaps at home. Likewise, the black-and-white text printing is top notch, and the 7120 can push out a page in about 20 seconds. It’s limited to A4-size paper, but can do borderless prints.

The HP printer uses two ink cartridges — black and a tri-colour. The downside is that you can’t replace a single colour if it runs out first. Replacing the cartridges costs around $50 each for high yield models that can do a few hundred photos. Suitable 10 x 15cm (4 x 6-inch) photo paper can be had for around 5 cents a sheet, so overall cost per photo is about 25 cents.
