BIG LENS, SMALL SENSOR

If a lens designed for a larger sensor is attached to a camera with a smaller sensor, only the centre of the image projected by the lens will register on the sensor. It’s this concept that a tilt-shift adapter makes use of: it reduces the angle of view so the image can be moved around.
