NISSAN WANTS YOU TO DRIVE ITS NEXT CAR WITH YOUR BRAIN

-

While most car companies are trying to outdo themselves by launching the first self-driving cars on our roads, Nissan is trying to figure out how we can drive a car with our minds. The car manufacturer has a new technology called ‘brain-to-vehicle’ (B2V) which is aimed at helping us respond to dangerous situations on the road more quickly. With the help of an electroencephalography (EEG) headset, Nissan hopes to allow us to respond to dangerous situations by as much as 0.2 to 0.5 seconds faster by predicting our next actions, such as hitting the brakes or turning. B2V detects brain signals that trigger movement in a driver’s hands and feet before the movement even begins, and the idea is that the car will be able adapt to the driver’s brain to help perform actions sooner, thus saving lives.
