- [ PAUL TAYLOR ]

There’s a certain subset of people who love spreadsheets, and then there’s the rest of us whose eyes glaze over when swamped in a sea of numbers. At least in concept, a visual guide is far more appealing than raw figures, and this money tracking tool shows you in a simple pie chart (well, more of a doughnut) where your money’s going month-to-month. It’s a straightforward deal, with the doughnut in the middle fringed by colourful icons that represent your comings and (mostly) goings. Its clean interface and flexibility is both a boon and a curse, though. You can, for instance, put in transactions that will occur in a few days’ time, but your total at the top changes to show you what you will have, rather than what you have at this moment in time. Use Finice instead as a planning tool and this shift in perspective offers a lot of freedom. It’s a broad strokes app, great for the overview but less useful for granular details.
