Smart Lens - Text Scanner OCR

TURN YOUR PRINTED TEXT INTO DIGITAL WORDS. Free with IAP | github.com/duyp

- [ HARRY DOMANSKI ]

Perhaps you’ve found yourself wanting to copy some real-world text into a message or email, or maybe you’re keen on collecting quotes from your favourite paperback — either way, this app is for you. Take a photo of some sentences or paragraphs with the app, either in portrait or landscape, and the app will quickly scan it, identifying whatever it thinks is a word. It will automatically detect the language, but you can select from 56 different languages to increase precision. Now you’re able to select as much of the text you want, word by word or in big blocks, in order to copy it to the clipboard or translate it (which uses Google Translate’s engine). One of the more convenient features of Smart Lens is its ability to log the history of your text photos, enabling you to keep all your quotes in the one place or just refer back to the source material. There are also some nifty extras, such as the ability to export either the image or the text to a PDF and the option to share it immediately via the usual swathe of social apps.
