Oogle
HIGHLIGHTING SEARCH IMAGES ON A WEBPAGE. GOOGLE’S IMAGE SEARCH is a handy tool, no denying. But when you’ve clicked through to an image-heavy website via the search, it can take a while to locate the particular image on the page. Oogle, a brand-spanking-new Chrome plugin, attempts to make finding an image on any website easy (provided you’ve gone through Google’s image search) by highlighting said picture on the page. You’ll need to choose a highlight colour in the plugin’s options page before it can work its magic. The rest of the page is dimmed, making the image you want stand out. For example, finding a specific telly on a website would be easy if you searched for the model you want on Google image search first, then clicked through to the manufacturer’s website. Similarly, teaching your kids about a particular animal on a zoo’s website would be just as easy through a Google search and Oogle’s highlighting ability. Oogle can also revert Google’s image search to the old interface, where images were displayed as tiles, with website and size information available at a single glance. That said, Oogle doesn’t seem to work on all websites — Wikipedia, for example, was beyond it. The developer is aware of this issue and is trying to fix it.
