HOW WE TESTED

Benchmarks were tested using a USB 3.0 Type-A connection on a Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. The speed results were determined using Crystal Disk Mark 3.0.4 running all sequential, 512B and 4KB benchmarks through five instances of 1,000MB of data. If the drive was formatted for macOS, we ran Black Magic Diskspeed Test on a 2014 13-inch MacBook Air.
