KeyMat THE CHAIR MAT THAT KEEPS YOU TYPING. tinyurl.com/tla76-keymat

The cynic in us raised our eyebrows when we saw this product for the first time and then facepalmed. This crowdfunding project failed to raise its US$10,000 goal, enticing only two people to part with their money. Why? Surely an office chair mat designed to keep you from sitting down too long is a great invention. And it would be, if that mat wasn’t also a keyboard that had you dancing around the floor like you were playing a giant game of Whack-A-Mole. True, it has some good qualities — such as getting you to stand up, while still allowing you to (very slowly) type out your emails or reports, and it also means those with certain disabilities can communicate, but it’s expensive, made of wood (which means transportation is an issue), claims to be able to help you lose weight, and we predict most people would simply be too embarrassed to use it on a regular basis. We certainly would be.
