Quillbot

QUILLBOT IS AI-POWERED, SO THE MORE YOU USE IT THE BETTER IT WILL GET (THEORETICALLY).

A PHRASE BOOK TO IMPROVE YOUR WRITING. Free | quillbot.com

A THESAURUS IS a must for wordsmiths, but English is a funny language and sentence construction can often be difficult when using synonyms. Quillbot attempts to make this process a lot simpler by allowing users to input a sentence and then spewing out an alternative version, inserting synonyms for a few critical words. Quillbot is AI-powered, so the more you use it the better it will get (theoretically). Synonym options in the output sentence are marked in red, and hovering over one displays a list of alternatives and any changes you make to the output adds to the AI’s learning curve. The developers call Quillbot “the smart thesaurus for sentences” and it works well. It’s a web tool that also has a Chrome extension. The plugin allows you to pop in a sentence that has up to 180 characters and gives you an alternative. If you want to spruce up an entire paragraph, you’ll need to use the dedicated online tool. The only downside we’ve found is that copying the output to paste elsewhere was near impossible, with spaces stripped out or new lines for every word. In other words, you’ll just need to type everything out manually.
