Drawing on the abundance of information afforded by our music streaming addiction, SongKick manages to take your musical taste profile and use it to tip you off about when you can see your favourite bands. For those downloading SongKick for the first time, the setup process is diabolically easy, letting you add a list of artists to follow by scanning your Apple Music, Spotify and Google Play streaming accounts or the local music files stored on your device. Blend this with info about your hometown and any other locations you would like to keep track of — in case you’re willing to travel far and wide to see your favourite bands or you’re keen to see a gig while on the road — and you have a perfect recipe for finding appealing live music. Once SongKick knows your beat and all the local haunts, it trawls their feeds for upcoming concerts and spits out a synthesised list of all the local events that might interest you. Checking the upcoming months’ schedule for anything you might want to catch is as simple as scrolling through the personalised list, but you can also configure SongKick to alert you when new artists you like announce concerts or when tickets become available for shows you are following.

When you do find a concert you want to see, you can click through to see where the gig is being held, what the full line up is and follow a link to a website you can purchase tickets from. If this hasn’t lightened the load enough already, there’s also tailored calendar reminders that sync to your Google or iCloud calendar, an event sharing feature for looping in friends and event tracking for alerts about ticket availability.
