Loopsie
LIVING PICTURES THAT YOU ANIMATE. Free | www.instagram.com/loopsieapp
Loopsie lets you create short cinemagraphs, or ‘living photos’ — a bit like Apple’s Live Photos, or Boomerang — but you get to choose which part of the image you want animated. So it’s essentially a still image with one element in it that’s moving in a five-second loop. Loopsie is easy to use: just download, point and shoot. Then you get to ‘colour in’ the spot you want to animate and save or share the image, all in HD quality. Loopsie’s user interface is simple and clean — you can choose to have a grid to frame your images better and you can change the aspect ratio as well. What you can’t do is zoom in when taking a photo, for reasons unknown. Loopsie is free and easy to use, with a quick tutorial displayed the first time you use the app. If you’d like to see what the app can do, check out #loopsie on Instagram for inspiration and you’re well on your way to creating the perfect cinemagraph. Just pretend the above image has Jiiji, the black toy cat, shuddering slightly from side to side.
