Sleep++ MONITOR YOUR ZS WITH THIS WATCHOS SLEEP TRACKER. Free with IAP |

YOUR HUMBLE AND bleary-eyed reviewer does not sleep well. Going to a doctor and telling them that we wake up five times a night, however, doesn’t quite pack as much of a punch as handing over a wad of data, showing exactly when each waking moment occurred and the sort of quality of sleep we were getting. As this is a watchOS app, we were eager to see how accurate the tracking was, so duly donned our device, and engaged sleep mode. It’s hard to judge just how truthfully the app labels ‘restful’ or ‘restless’ bouts of sleep, as we’re, well, asleep at the time — but it’s definitely easy to figure out if it misses a 100% awake moment where we were walking around and labels it as ‘restless’. This happened to us night after night. It uses the Apple Watch’s motion and health tracking data (such as heart rate) to determine whether you’re asleep and how soundly you’re resting, so it’s unclear whether the app itself is at fault or whether it’s the Watch not interpreting movements correctly. While you can engage sleep mode manually, you can also do it post-sleep, then simply choose the hours you were in bed. Amusingly, we accidentally engaged sleep mode at work, and our report at the end of the day stated that we had slept through our 12pm meeting and very peacefully! Basically, we don’t think it’s accurate enough to be that helpful.
