SWEAT DECK

- Free; $4.49 Pro | www.rubbledev. [ CARMEL SEALEY ]

A CARD-BASED FITNESS AID THAT GAMBIT WOULD LOVE.

It’s not always easy knowing which exercises to pick without some sort of help from a personal trainer. There are a million different apps out there that can aid you in this respect, so what makes Sweat Deck stand out?

This app gamifies your workout by throwing cards at you (well, they appear on the screen), and you’re tasked with doing the exercise and number of reps on the card. Exercises are linked to suits, so you could put squats on diamonds, chair-dips on clubs, burpees on hearts (we hate burpees, too) and maybe some leg raises on spades. It’s best to balance out your workout, or else you may end up doing 10 push-ups, followed by 10 burpees, followed by a minute of planking, followed by severe pain in your arms!

The design of this app couldn’t be any simpler or easy to navigate. It’s easy to hit done on your current exercise and move to the next and all your stats are clearly shown post-workout for you to peruse. You can get the exercises read out to you, which we highly recommend, and look out for those Joker cards that are randomly distributed for a surprise challenge!

Upgrading to Pro isn’t necessary but it does offer some great additional features, such as a wider variety of exercises to choose from, more customisation options, a timer for your workouts, as well as history view and the ability to save custom workouts. In all, it’s a refreshing way to get sweaty.
