Fetch TV Mighty

-

WE LIKEY!

THE REASON THE Fetch TV Mighty comes bundled with many ISP offerings is the fact that it’s so reliant upon IPTV. While the single TV tuner allows you to watch free-to-air broadcasts, the vast majority of channels are delivered over your internet connection. This means there’s a huge range of channels available by default that aren’t available to regular TV viewers. If that’s not enough, you can also subscribe to channel packages, which add additional channels for a monthly subscription price. You can also rent movies or TV shows, with a single standard definition TV show starting around $2.95. There’s also a wide range of streaming TV apps included on the box, such as Netflix, Stan and YouTube, yet there’s no sign of iView or SBS On Demand.

We absolutely loved the interface on this box, as it’s by far the best of the lot; Beyonwiz really should hire Fetch’s interface designers. It’s easy to read, and setting up the recording of an entire series takes just a couple of button clicks on the elegant remote. It can also stream videos off your home network, though we did have issues with movies that didn’t have a compatible codec. Specifically, if a movie had a 5.1 codec, the Mighty couldn’t decode this into the stereo output we’d set it up for, so our movies were silent. You can always recode your movies to stereo on your PC, but when things like the Chromecast can do it automatically, it’s a shame that the Mighty can’t do it.

Despite this small misgiving, we’re a huge fan of this PVR. It’s ironic really, as most of its channels are IP-streamed, showing that the future of TV really is headed towards being based online.
