Lenovo Yoga 920

BENDS OVER BACKWARDS TO BE THE MOST PREMIUM 2-IN-1 AVAILABLE.

-

IF YOU’RE GOING to settle on just one device for all the various tasks you need a tablet or laptop for, then that device really should be the perfect amalgamation. The Lenovo Yoga series has traditionally taken this to heart by creating some of the most premium convertibles on the market. The Yoga 920 continues this legacy, being just as classy as its predecessors.

Whether it is the 8th-generation Intel CPU, the generous 16GB RAM or the vivid 4K screen, there’s no doubting that the flexible Yoga 920 packs some premium parts. The 13.9-inch UHD IPS touchscreen sees the return of 5mm vertical bezels that allow it to occupy almost the entire top half of the unit. This vibrant screen is tied to a premium keyboard and powdery trackpad by the company’s signature watchband hinge that gives excellent stabilisation and balance to the screen, while maintaining the flexibility to flip a full 180°. Not only do the keys offer nice resistance for an excellent typing experience on such a thin base, but the lightweight bottom half also manages to pack in a 512GB NVMe SSD and a large 70Wh LiPolymer battery. These generous parts offer a lot of exceptionally fast storage and 8.5 hours of battery life for video playback, but are also engineered to add the perfect balance of weight to stabilise the unit.

Despite having one of the latest CPUs and a generous RAM allocation, the Yoga 920 isn’t the highest performing device across the board. Peaking with a top CPU score on Geekbench 4, the Yoga 920’s came in third or fourth across most tests. While this might seem underwhelming, the unit’s performance was tempered somewhat by a good thermal management regime that kept the CPU at under 94°C at all times (something we can’t say for many competitors).
