MANAGE YOUR MAC’S TRACKING INFORMATION
UNLOCK THE SETTINGS 01 Go to ‘System Preferences > Security & Privacy’ and click the Privacy tab. Your location information is private, so you’ll need to click the padlock in the bottom-left corner and enter an administrator password to view the settings and information or make any changes. LOCATION SERVICES 02 Location Services is the first item in the list on the left. If you wish, you can disable all location services by unchecking the checkbox above the right-hand pane. Alternatively, scroll to the foot of the pane and click Details to manage individual services. SYSTEM SERVICES 03 You can selectively enable or disable the System Services that use your location. It can be useful to have the time set for you if you cross time zones, but it’s up to you. Find My Mac is the location tracking feature accessible at iCloud.com, as we’ve described. SIGNIFICANT LOCATIONS 04 Click the Details button by Significant Locations to view a log of places you’ve frequently visited with your Mac — your home, your workplace, the hotel you stayed in... This is used to provide location-related information in Maps, Calendar, Photos and other apps. EXPAND LOCATIONS 05 Click the triangle next to a location to expand it, then expand any subsections. This shows all of the times and dates you visited the location. This is a good way to track where you spend your screen-time. Click a location or a time and date, and the map will zoom in closer. LOCATION DETAILS 06 The map will display the location, at least within about 30 yards or so, but you can’t adjust the level of zoom. You can delete individual locations or, if you don’t want any of this information, click Clear History to delete all the saved Significant Locations data.
