FUTURE OF JAPANESE GIANT’S MOBILE DIVISION IN DOUBT?

The latest earning report for Sony’s mobile division offered up some grim insights into the fading star in the global phone market. While Q1 of 2017 saw the company shift 3.4 million units, sales in the same quarter of 2018 were down to 2 million, a decline of over 40% year-on-year. While the rest of the business (particular­ly the gaming arena) remains strong, this may spell the end for Sony’s mobile aspiration­s.
