WORLD’S FIRST OPTICAL NEURAL NETWORK CREATED

AI BECOMES ENLIGHTENED.

-

A team of researchers at UCLA have created a neural network that uses pulses of light to analyse information instead of conventional silicone chipsets. The 3D-printed optical neural network offers a theoretical 7% speed boost over electrical copper circuits, and it’s more power efficient than traditional machine learning hardware and will dramatically reduce the power consumption for GPU heavy tasks like machine learning and cryptocurrency mining.
