RESEARCHERS USE MACHINE LEARNING TO EXPLORE ‘THEORY OF MIND’.

Being able to correctly interpret ambiguous language requires what psychologists refer to as ‘theory of mind’ and researchers from DeepMind in London have begun training neural networks to try and develop this skill in AI. The subject-aware AI called ToMnet is initially being used to help explain the assumptions and ‘mindset’ that underpins self-trained neural nets to see if it can be used to decipher how and why the systematic trial-and error systems arrive at their conclusions.
