DARK READER

PROTECT YOUR EYES AT ALL TIMES.

-

Night mode on the latest version of Windows and macOS works by reducing the amount of blue light emitted by the screen. While this still leaves room for large blank white spaces in many websites and apps, a “dark mode” can eliminate even that. Although the jury is still out on which one is more beneficial for the eyes, you’d think that the less white space you see at night, the better your eyes would feel. With that in mind, Dark Reader inverts the bright colours of websites when using Chrome or Firefox, turning white spaces black, and increasing contrast to make screentime at night better. Dark Reader gives you the freedom to set the brightness and contrast levels for each individual site you visit, too. You can create lists of sites you want to set permanently to a dark mode, as well as those you don’t, and adjust the type and size of font to suit your needs. There are plenty of other plugins for Chrome and Firefox that do the same thing, like Morpheon Dark, but there aren’t too many that give you as much control over the settings as Dark Reader.
