STAYING ALIVE FOR GOOGLE CHROME

THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE YOU BUY THOSE CONCERT TICKETS.

-

Online shopping: it’s easy, fun and can be annoying when you’re told your “session has timed out” because you just spent five minutes thinking about the purchase before making the payment. This happens most often with banks, airlines and event ticket sellers, which log you out if you’ve been inactive for a certain period of time. You’ll need to keep clicking on a link on the site or constantly refreshing the page to not get logged out. However, a Chrome plugin called Staying Alive will do that for you in the background, keeping you logged into the site and giving you plenty of time to convince yourself to not buy that e-bike or $1,000 lamp. Staying Alive works by first asking you to set up some ‘rules’ in its settings page for each regular site you visit that has a session timeout. Assign a nickname to each, then add the site homepage URL in the ‘trigger URL’ field, followed by any other page within the site you’d like the plugin to refresh for you. Set the interval you want the reload to occur, and the next time you open that site, you’ll see the number of ‘rules’ you’ve got for that site displayed in red below the icon in the toolbar. Now you can think for as long as you need.
