UK’S NHS TO LAUNCH A CLINIC FOR GAMING ADDICTION
CENTRE OF INTERNET DISORDERS TO BE A “LIFE-CHANGER”.
In the wake of the World Health Organization’s official classification of gaming disorder as a mental health condition, a London hospital is opening a clinic dedicated to tackling gaming addiction. While the clinic’s founder doubts this will result in “an epidemic” of people requiring treatment, she does believe it will be a “life-changer” for many struggling with the disorder. “I feel a moral duty on behalf of the NHS to provide the evidence-based treatment these young people and their families need”, she said, going on to say that the centre will expand to also include “other internet compulsions … when funding is available.”
