4K & HDR TV
In 2016, TV manufacturers introduced HDR colour to consumer ranges, which worked in conjunction with the earlier 4K Spec to give an impressive boost in overall colour fidelity and image depth. While manufacturers have continued to follow their own path pursuing OLED or QLED or sophisticated backlighting arrays to boost the picture qualities of TVs in different ways, the collective adoption of HDR technology shifted the clarity of 4K resolution TVs across the board. This paved the way for Netflix to adopt HDR10+ colour gamuts and has today pushed a number of other local streaming services to do the same.
