AUTOMATICALLY OFFLOAD YOUR UNUSED APPS

-

01 OPEN SETTINGS APP

With iOS 11, Apple sought to help you better manage your device’s storage space by letting you automatically remove apps you barely touch. To activate, open Settings.

02 SELECT ITUNES OPTION

Now scroll down the screen until you see the option for ‘iTunes & App Store’ and tap on it. This will bring you to another bunch of settings — scroll to the bottom of them.

03 MAKE A CHOICE

By default, ‘Offload Unused Apps’ is off. However, some people have noticed that it sometimes turns itself on. Either way, now that you’re here, you can make a decision.

04 USE THE SLIDER

By ensuring this option remains off, your apps will permanently reside on your device. By turning it on, iOS 11 can check how often you’re using an app and take action.

05 USE AN APP

After a while, if this feature is activated, offloaded apps will display a cloud icon next to their names. When you tap such an app, it will be reinstalled ready for use. [Check your emails...! — Sub-Ed]

06 RETAIN YOUR DATA

The beauty of this method is that any documents or data stored by an offloaded app is not deleted. When an offloaded app reinstalls, the data is immediately available to you again.
