HOW TO SIDELOAD APPS

-

Quite a few of the features of Android P have been extracted by developers, then adapted so they can be run on older versions of Android. This means they are not available to download from the Google Play Store, and instead have to be installed manually. It’s a very easy process, but not without some risk as the files have not be checked by Google, so it’s important to only install files from a source you trust. First of all, though, we actually need to enable the ability to install apps from third parties. The setting location will vary based on your phone or Android version, but for Android 7 or older, it is located in ‘Settings > Security’, then toggle Unknown sources on. For those using Android 8 Oreo, you simply need to tap and allow the installation for each app. We have provided the URLs for the APK files in question — just enter the links on your Android device and download the files, then tap the file in your notifications to install it.
