YOUR CAT’S POO COULD MAKE YOU A FAMOUS ENTREPRENEUR

A new study published in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society (Biological science) claims that a parasite in your cat’s faeces may influence your risk-taking and entrepreneurial behaviour. The study found that students who test positive for the protozoa-like Toxoplasma gondii were more likely to study business, while others were very likely to start their own business. According to the lead author of the paper, Stefanie Johnson, in countries with a higher prevalence of the parasite only a small proportion of the population demonstrated a “fear of failure”. However, the results of the study are correlational and not causal. There’s no way to tell if toxoplasmosis actually causes people to take more risks or lean towards business ventures; other factors could also influence this behaviour pattern.
