AN AFFORDABLE DAY-NIGHT CAMERA.
SHOP AROUND AND you can pick up the NC260 for as little as $90, and it’s easily found under $100. The camera features a 1280 x 720 resolution, and a 113-degree field of view, by way of a 1/4-inch CMOS sensor. It also has night vision, a microphone for audio recording, and sound and movement detection. Both sound and audio quality are excellent for the price, but those craving high detail should go for a 1080p model. The easiest way to connect the camera is via the built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, but there is also a LAN port for wired connections. It also includes a DC extension cable, which makes it a little easier to install in out-of-the-way locations. The unit can stream footage to a NAS or elsewhere for remote viewing, or record it locally with an optional SD card. TP-Link has an app available that allows the camera to be controlled and viewed remotely, as well as enabling two-way communications via a built-in speaker.
