BUDDY (STYLED ‘BUDDY.’) is an app for those of us who can never decide where to eat when we’re out for dinner. It’s a theoretically great idea – not only will it make recommendations, but if you go past certain restaurants, cafes or bars with Bluetooth on, you can get sent vouchers and recommendations. It’s automating a process many struggle with, but right now it’s also an idea more than an actual functional app. At the time of writing, there’s very little on there – we found a few places in Melbourne, and even then, it’s not clear if the app is withholding results because of some preferences I input early on, indicating what kind of restaurants I like. Walking the streets of Adelaide with location services turned on, nothing comes up. This is an app with great and genuine potential, and it’s completely free, so take the rating below with a grain of salt. Perhaps put it on your phone now and check back in a few months to see if anything became of it.
