Using neural networks in order to “detect and quantify recurring patterns in reviews”, The Review Index will compile a list of key elements from the game — such as gameplay, graphics, performance, price, etc. — and give it a percentage ranking. You can then click to expand each of these categories in order to see snippets of the reviews in question, giving you quoted highlights that provide an indication of why a game may have scored highly in gameplay (“I can’t stop playing it”), for instance. At a glance, this can quickly tell you that a game may have incredible gameplay and graphics, but it may be so riddled with bugs that it isn’t worth playing. Although the site currently supports Amazon in regions like the US and UK, it’s not yet available in Australia, but given the usefulness of this tool, we’re hoping support will arrive in the future.
