Piffle
OH THE CUTENESS!
WHO DOESN’T LOVE cats? If a quick scroll through any social network and image site shows, definitely not most of the internet. Piffle, from the makers of the extraordinarily popular Crossy Road, understands that all of us mere humans are powerless at the hands of a cute kitten. At the core of this adorable little puzzler is the “block breaker”, where blocks on the screen feature a number on the centre that represents how many hits they can take until they are destroyed.
Lacquered in style, beautiful art and animations, Piffle swaps out balls with cats, which bounce across the screen, meowing in glee, as they ricochet between various blocks, buffered with powerups that can be collected by meeting achievements and gaining levels via experience. As silly as it all sounds, each level is carefully designed to ramp up in difficulty, and there are regular events and daily challenges to test your skill levels.
It’s a wholly moreish experience that you just want to keep pushing through, one more level after level after level. There are always new blocks and challenging restrictions to contend with, as well as leader boards to compete with friends, bosses to fight, and a quirky little story to play through. At the end of the day it’s purely a cutely themed physics puzzler, but at the end of the day it’s the gameplay as well as the sheer overwhelming cuteness that cuts through. CATS!
