Reigns: Game of Thrones
BECOME THE QUEEN OF DRAGONS.
THE ORIGINAL REIGNS is up there in my top 10 mobile games of all time, in that it manages to absolutely perfect the method of producing a title which is not only brilliant in its execution and concept, but that harnesses the size and mobility of the platform on which it sits. It is almost infinitely repayable and there’s always something different each time you load it up.
For those unacquainted, Reigns is a card game of sorts that puts you in the shoes of a King or Queen and continuously presents you with decisions that affect various parts of your kingdom. Be too lenient and be punished for your weakness via a bloody coup, or too harsh and invite the retribution of your citizens. Mixed in with these options is a story of sorts that builds based on how you work through the various options you are presented with, which include branching story paths and dialogue options with different characters.
As the title gives away, Reigns: GOT themes the original with characters, locales, events and subplots from the series. For all intents and purposes the game operates in exactly the same manner as the original, with a few differences here and there, but much of the difference is found in the narrative context of Westeros.
