D-Link DSL-2878

-

FUTURE PROOF.

WITH AN RRP of $149, the D-Link DSL-2878 just squeaks into our roundup, but can be found online for around $130. For the money you get AC750 spec Wi-Fi, along with four Gigabit LAN ports. But the 2878 also has a built in modem that can handle both an ADSL or VDSL connection. One of the LAN ports can also double as a WAN connection, for those with FTTP or an existing modem. It also has Wi-Fi on/off and WPS buttons, plus a USB 2.0 port that can be used to add storage to your network.

The D-Link router uses internal antennas, but thanks to the tall design coverage is generally pretty good. Still, you won’t get top notch speeds at the far reaches of your house. The D-Link setup process is very simple and easy, and the router has an option for a guest network, as well as parental controls. Unfortunately though it does not support the mydlink smartphone app and personal cloud service.
