The moral dilemma of who to save in a crash has been a longstanding philosophical experiment, but a new study has used this dilemma to survey global preferences in order to train self driving cars. The study found that in a crash situation where only one party could live, people felt that the humans take precedence over animals, a the more numerous group should be saved and youthful should be spared over the elderly.
