AKG N60NC Wireless on-ear headphones
AN ELEGANT SOLUTION FOR WEALTHY VAGABONDS AND AUDIOPHILES.
IT CAN BE challenging to walk the lines between style, comfort, portability, and sound quality, but the AKG N60NC Wireless manage to do so well. With an understated and classy aesthetic, deeply-cushioned ear cups, lightweight (200g) and foldable design, and surprisingly sturdy construction, these on-ears make for excellent traveling companions. You’ll get 15 hours of ANC-enabled, wireless playback and double that when cabling up with ANC switched on, which is fairly decent for a unit this size. While it is a little unfortunate that there’s no way to disengage the noise cancelling when going wireless in order to eke out even more power, the quality of the ANC is very good for the on-ear form factor. The audio profile of the N60NC isn’t skewed heavily in any one direction, and the enhanced sense of space and clarity is another surprise we weren’t expecting from on-ears, but at $449, AKG’s biggest obstacle here is powerful and portable over-ear contenders in the same bracket, and decent on-ear alternatives for less than half the price (Jabra Move, for instance).
