Secret Lab Titan Softweave gaming chair

THERE’S MULTIPLE WAYS TO SKIN A GAMING CHAIR.

- [ JOEL BURGESS ]

SINGAPORE-BASED SECRETLAB HAS offered some of the most comfortable leather gaming chairs on the market for a few years now, but anyone that lives in a hot climate – or even just a hot computer room – will have likely have wondered if leather is really the best material for long gaming sessions (if they already own a leather chair, that thought usually occurs while peeling themselves from their throne).

For the first time Secretlab has pulled away from full-grain in lieu of a new SoftWeave signature fabric blend that is durable, soft and, most importantly, breathable. This new upholstery option’s available on the existing three chair series (Throne, Omega and Titan), and while this denim-like tough fabric might not be quite as stain resistant as leather, it doesn’t require any maintenance to keep it looking slick.

Because Secretlab sells directly to consumers, there’s a bit of initial assembly required. Thankfully it’s not too challenging and shouldn’t take more than about 30 minutes.

Once built, the Titan will, quite literally, bend over backwards to make you comfortable. This is Secretlabs’ biggest and most customisable seat, with a recline lever that lowers the backrest into a full laid back position of 165º, a bucket-seat rocker that can lock or flex to 30º and fully adjustable arm rests with more than three degrees of freedom – enough to support almost any sitting style imaginable (cross-legged excluded). Throw in the Titan’s adjustable lumbar support to encourage healthy spine curvature and an optional strap-on neck-rest pillow for long-term comfort and you’ve got one of the best foundations for extended gaming or work sessions available.
