Razer Ifrit
FOR MORE THAN JUST STREAMING.
GAME PERIPHERAL-MAKER RAZER has been courting the lucrative streaming crowd for some time now, with a range of quality products that includes desktop mics and a very cool webcam. The Taiwan-based company now adds a streaming focused audio solution to the mix – but the Razer Ifrit is surprisingly versatile for all that.
The design essentially combines a very comfortable boom mic that wraps around the back of your head with a pair of in-ear headphones, making for a very lightweight alternative to more traditional gaming headphone solutions. They’re very comfortable to wear, and a two part cable makes for a long connection, and a lot of freedom to move. The inline volume control and USB audio enhancer is particularly neat, as you can plug two headsets into it for side-by-side streaming, and features a sticky back so it can be secured to your desk. The Ifrit can also plug straight into your phone.
The sound quality of the earbuds is certainly good enough for streaming, and for some the sheer lightweight nature of the headset will make it the perfect multiplayer audio option. But the mic is the real killer, delivering excellent and remarkably clear voice. The mic sits on an adjustable boom and features a solid chunk of foam; despite that, it’s a very low profile mic, meaning anyone watching you stream can see more of your face. It’s also a great solution if you take a lot of calls on Skype or similar.
The Ifrit may be bit of a niche product, but we were pleasantly surprised by how versatile it is.
