The Wi-Fi Alliance is adopting the new number nomenclature to help clear up confusion over the various flavours of Wi-Fi and so make it easier for you to tell whether you have the latest, fastest, whizziest Wi-Fi version… or not. 802.11ac becomes Wi-Fi 5; 802.11n becomes Wi-Fi 4; and so on…
