ImpactVision uses AI to pick fresh food
AI TACKLES FOOD WASTAGE. $NA | www.impactvi.com A new San Francisco startup is using spectroscopy and AI to deliver deeper insights on the quality of fresh produce. Using electromagnetic radiation (think x-rays) the ImpactVision software scans the shape, density and material of various fruits and vegetables. The AI software can then compare scans to data sets to estimate shelf life or detect imperfections. This system could help reduce global food wastage, which is currently estimated to be about a third of all produced food.
