GIVE IT A LISTEN. Free | wilson.fm/
When everyone is throwing podcast recommendations at you, or demanding that you listen to their own podcast (mine is called Pods in the Key of Springfield, by the way, please subscribe), it can be nice to have things taken out of your hands sometimes with a curated batch of content. Wilson is a weekly podcast ‘magazine’ (although there’s not a lot of reading involved). Each week the folks behind Wilson – or guest editors, in a few cases – present a short, themed list of podcast episodes that they want to recommend. For instance, a recent issue on semantics and communication featured an episode of linguistics podcast The Allusionist, an episode of Reply All (the very best podcast) about Pepe the Frog and the meaning of memes, and four other episodes feeding into this theme. The folks at Wilson have great taste – I’m writing this while listening to an excellent interview with Phantom Thread director Paul Thomas Anderson – and the app’s native play functions mean that you can listen to the episode without needing to load it up through your podcatcher of choice.
