Safari speed-up strategies
REOPEN CLOSED TABS
01 Press Shift+Cmd+T to reopen the tab you just closed (or window with all its tabs). Click and hold the Back button to see its history, and jump to an earlier page with one more click.
TAB TO TAB
02 To switch tabs using just the keyboard, press Ctrl+Tab to go one right of the current one, or Ctrl+Shift+Tab to go left. This also works in Finder, Pages and many apps that support tabs.
MONITOR DOWNLOADS
03 A new button appears at the top-right corner of Safari during downloads. Click it to monitor progress. Drag the popover away to keep it visible, rather than having to come back and click.
OPEN MULTIPLE SITES
04 If you often use a group of sites for a task, add them to a folder rather than Favorites. Go to it in the Bookmarks menu or Ctrl-click it in the sidebar then ‘Open in New Tabs’ to open all.
Finder includes a great (but far too easily missed) method for using any file as a template. Set up a document as your starting point in any app, save it to a file, then select the file in Finder, press Cmd+i and check the box labelled ‘Stationery pad.’ Now when you open that file, Finder creates a duplicate and opens the copy in the respective app; the template remains untouched, ready for the next time you need it.
