Back up your files with Paragon

-

01 CHOOSE FILE-BASED BACKUP

From the main screen click ‘+’ next to My Backups. Click ‘+’ under Backup source to select Files/Folders. You can opt to choose specific folders or drives to include in your backup – tick a box or click ‘>’ to expand a drive or folder to view its contents before ticking what you wish to back up.

02 BACK UP BY FILE TYPE

Alternatively, choose ‘Select files by file type’ to choose specific types of files such as documents, music or video. Click the down arrow next to each to see which file types are included in the selection. From here you can exclude selected file types by unticking them as shown above.

03 MORE FILE-TYPE OPTIONS

Click ‘Add your file types’ to enter your own choices manually – for example, ‘*.jpg’ for JPEG files, then ‘*.png’ for PNG. Once done choose which specific locations – drives and/or folders – to search for files matching your selected types, before clicking OK to complete your selection.

04 SELECT DESTINATION

Click ‘Destination’ to choose where to store your backup. Select another internal drive (one your data isn’t already on) under Local Folders, or choose ‘External drives’ to select an attached drive. Pick ‘Network location’ to select a networked drive, with username and password if required.

05 SET BACKUP SCHEDULE AND STRATEGY

Click ‘is not scheduled’ to choose when to back up your data. To improve your chances of recovering lost data, choose a Daily backup schedule and then change it to Hours (as shown in the screenshot above) to back up your data multiple times a day – this can be as often as once per hour if you wish.

06 SET BACKUP STRATEGY

To reduce the size of your backups, click ‘Full backups only’ under Backup Strategy. Choose ‘Chain of full and incremental backups’ and change the number to 6. Leave ‘Use backup retention’ ticked and then choose how long to keep your backups (see main text). Click ‘OK’ > ‘Back up now’.
